I am so glad you wrote in! I made my first Amy doll in 1977 I think. I've made the dolls with a group of Hmong women mid 90;s in a mother and daughter sewing class. I made 4 Annie dolls I think for a fundraiser. I also made a lot of the calico dogs, and several polar bears in yellow corduroy.
I have wondered about your mother! I tried to do some searches to see if she was alive and if so what she was doing, but never found anything.
I never saw the Gnome patterns! I know they aren't all in the book. I have a lot of the magazine articles with the patterns, but not all of of them. I started college and left home during that time.
I am trying to sell some dolls on etsy or ebay. I might have to call it HolleysFollies instead of Holleysdollies because I don't think I can get enough money for them, as they are time consuming to make. So far I have just listed some doll clothes and nothing has sold.
I showed the color photos of the Annie Doll to my 9 year old granddaughter and she loved it! The Annie doll had a little blue coat and hat.
I have fooled around with coming up with my own swimsuit pattern for 18 inch dolls, and thought about your Mom coming up with her patterns and all the trial and error that must have included!
I was also a Brownie leader, and did crafts all my life. I did crafts with kids also, wearing many different hats.
I will have to take photos of the 2 Amy dolls I made and then the Annie dolls that are not finished. I am doing hand embroidery for the faces, and hand doing the hair.
